The Story of Strong Feelings,

EEPWORM and Me

When I was a young child, I had strong, scary feelings.   I didn't understand that the feelings were coming from the inside and I was scared.  I tried many, unsuccessful attempts to calm them with the little knowledge that I had.  One day, I decided that I had had enough.  If no one was going to give me a tool to help me feel better, then I would do it myself.
Around the same time, I had rubber band ball toy collection that I found to be quite comforting.  However, I did not like the name of the toy.  So, I renamed it "eep." As my collection grew, I found more interesting shapes of toys that needed new names.  However, I wanted to be methodical with my naming process so that every toy would have an "eep" in it.  When I found the worm-shaped rubber band ball, I knew exactly what it was supposed to be called: "eepworm."

When I became an adult, I kept my collection of eeps, eepworms, eep-dinosours, eep-lizards, cheep-eeps, and more.  When I began working with Early Childhood Specialties, I saw firsthand that many children today are also struggling with strong emotions.  I felt that I could help children with these feelings, so I decided to start my own book and toy line.  If I can grow up to be successful by using these tools, then so can many other children!
