Endorsements for My Friend EEPWORM
"Corinne’s vision of supporting children with their big emotions is realized in this beautifully illustrated children’s book. Children who have a difficult time managing their emotions often feel alone, misunderstood, different, out of sorts or isolated. Corinne’s Eepworms help these children feel safe by assuring them that they have someone (or something!) that will stick with them through thick and thin. What a comfort to little souls in distress!” -Becky Bailey Founder of Conscious Discipline® "We bought Corinne’s beautiful book and eepworm himself after our 5-year-old daughter saw them at church. Eepworm is by her side almost 24/7 now; she cuddles and talks to him, sleeps and eats with him, and makes him reflect her every emotion. She has memorized the book and recites it at will, and eepworm makes regular appearances at her kindergarten show-and-tell. Her endorsement? 'There is nobody who can love eepworm better than me!' The toy is sturdy, fun, soft, and easily transported. We are so grateful to Corinne and her family for sharing their journey and eepworm with ours!" -Marion Fernandez-Cueto Parent "Thank you to NetGalley and Early Childhood Specialties for providing me with a copy of My Friend EEPWORM in exchange for an honest review! Ok, to be completely honest, I downloaded this book the second I saw its cover because it was just too cute to resist. I spent the next 10 minutes just repeating the word "eepworm" over and over again because it's just so fun to say. I ended up really liking the book, even though I got it without knowing anything about it. My Friend EEPWORM is a picture book about a little, squishy toy called an EEPWORM that will be with you through all your big emotions. It's targeted at children with sensory issues and children learning how to handle big emotions. The illustrations are super cute and use a lot of soft colors, which makes the book visually very comforting. I really appreciated this book for many reasons, the primary being I was one of the kids this book is targeted at. I would carry around a little stuffed animal to help me ground myself and stay calm when things got overwhelming in the face of my ASD and anxiety. It really worked, so I totally buy the whole concept of an EEPWORM friend. I believe the physical copy of the book comes with an EEPWORM toy, which is of course adorable. I also really appreciated the parent/guardian guide in the beginning. Too many adults don't know how to help the kids in their life when things get overwhelming, and I thought it was a good reminder that it's our responsibility to help them learn how to manage their own big feelings. I highly recommend My Friend EEPWORM!" -Athena J. Reviewer "Beautiful watercolor illustrations! I wasn't familiar with eepworms, but this was such a darling book and sounds like a brilliant way to help children through their feelings. Easy to follow along and short enough to not completely lose readers with short attention spans. It also provides plenty of opportunities for further dialogue about the discussed emotions if the child you are reading to is ready." -Laura F. Reviewer "My Friend EEPWORM is a cute little book that talks about children with big feelings, and how a beloved toy (like an eepworm) can help. The book opens with tips for parents and teachers to help kids deal with difficult emotions, which was a great addition to the core book aimed at kids. It includes simple, helpful techniques to aid adults in helping kids in their lives deal with difficult feelings, including things you can explain to your child to make them feel less alone ("Managing feelings is hard, even for grown-ups") and techniques to help them cope ("Try rocking them, singing a soothing song, reducing sound or light levels."). My Friend EEPWORM shows how a beloved toy can not only be a comfort when life is rough, but also a source of joy when things are going well. A book like this that explores how children can use the tools at their disposal to deal with their emotions can be a great tool for any family, but especially one that includes a child dealing with especially big and complicated feelings." -Zoe R.
